Hi, I'm Maggie
Ever since I helped my dad design and build our first barn when I was 10, building has been in my blood. We escaped Houston and bought a lot in Fair Oaks Ranch and I attended Boerne High School graduating a year early. First things first, we designed and built another barn and built fencing for our horses. Once the horses were taken care of, we built the company’s third house for ourselves, and the custom home-building business was on the move.
I would tell everyone about horses – it’s more than a hobby. I was taking care of my first horse when I was seven and traveling around the region to shows. I even competed in Combined Carriage Driving. I ultimately focused on Eventing and Interned with a trainer in northern Alabama during what was supposed to be my senior year in high school. When I returned from the Internship and prepared to enter Texas A&M University in Animal Science – Equine Science, I decided I needed a Plan B too and ended up with a double major in Construction Science.
Following summer building internships, I was hired by JMH as a site supervisor and began my progression through various positions until I took over the business when my dad retired in 2014.
As owner and president of John Merritt Homes, Maggie has continued to grow the company to become one of the most respected custom home builders in Boerne and throughout Hill Country. She develops a close working relationship with her clients and is their single point of contact from the first meeting through building and warranty service.
Maggie has been an active member of the Greater San Antonio Builders Association, Texas Custom Builder’s Guild, and Custom Builder USA. She lives on an acreage just south of George’s Ranch and Bergheim with her family and a barn full of horses. She is active in her church and a driver in the healthy living movement.
THE JMH TEAM

John
After 30 years working as an engineer and in management for a Fortune 500 energy company, John brought the family to the Hill Country and started John Merritt Homes in 1999. “After being emersed in the corporate structure I felt like I was on an island with no support, no sounding board as a custom home builder.” I try to be that person that Maggie can go to when she needs someone with whom to brainstorm. Even though I officially retired in 2014, I’m vested in JMH as the founder and as the father of its current leader. I try to help out however is needed. I love being involved in bringing custom homes to life for clients and it excites me to see that in Maggie also.
